The very successful series of talks continues in July and August.

Although the archives cannot be open for the time being, it does not mean the staff are idle, as our two previous posts here show.
Nor does it mean that you cannot progress your own research. To help we have a new page on this site: ARCHIVES GUIDES. Here you will find various guides and indexes which will help you to plan your research ready for when the archives re-open. We have also updated our LINKS page to other sites where you may be able to progress your research.
We are always open to suggestions; please email the webmaster.

Following a very successful set of talks in May, a further set of on-line talks will be given by Lambeth Archives in June.

Lambeth Archives is using the poster below to publicise its project to collect records from the coronavirus emergency. A more detailed information sheet can be downloaded from here.

Although our archives, libraries and museums closed,  nearly all have on-line resources to explore. Then there’s Layers of London where you can find out so much about your area and add your own information and stories. The Forum has its own Twitter account: find us here for your regular dose of history.

We have received the following statement from the archives:

In response to concerns about the Covid-19 virus, Lambeth Archives will be closing at 3.00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday 20^th March.
We will continue to monitor emails and, where possible answer enquiries. However this will be limited by the fact that staff will be working from home without access to the collections.
At the moment we do not know when the public service will reopen, but we will keep you advised.

The Minet Library, in the same building as the archives is also closing, so that the whole building will close.

Lambeth Archives will be closed to researchers for the two weeks of its annual stock check from Monday 27^th January, reopening on Monday 10^th February.

Lambeth’s local history fair is a treat for anyone interested in the history of the area.
The day includes illustrated talks, tours and walks, local publishers’ bookstalls, exhibitions and refreshments run by local societies and local history organisations.
